House Jacking are 2 words that have become quite “notorious” in Southeast Missouri in the past few weeks.  It’s a scheme that I am sure happens nationwide, however, in my area of the country, this scheme is being reveled!  There has been extensive news coverage on our local television channel and, with due cause, many consumers have become very wary of lenders & appraisers.  You fill find some very interesting news video clips at:  www.kfvs12.com scroll down on the left hand side under “video News Clips” to find the House Jacking Part 1, 2 & 3 stories.  As real estate professionals, we need to be informed of such practices so we can not only protect our customers, but also protect the ethical side of our profession!

I was just “cruising” the internet, and one of my favorite blogs is ActiveRain….came across some valuable market statistics everyone needs to read!  Just this AM I was listening to the gloom and doom of the local “Breakfast Show”…….. I think they really need to do a thorough search of the market statistics.  I will reiterate and mention that once again……Bad News Sells more air space and print space than good news!

I just returned home from the NAR (National Real Estate Convention) in Las Vegas, NV.  It was very exhausting, but also extremely enlightening!  I learned so much and met alot of interesting people from around the world!  There were real estate professionals from Russia, Italy, Guam, England & Japan, just to name a few.  There were so many languages spoken sometimes it felt as if English was a “foreign” language!  One thing that was for sure there was the common language of real estate that was spoken.  I believe one great thought that I will take home from this convention is the fact that real estate is not in the horrible slump the news media would like the general public to think it is!   I think many of you will find this link to be enlightening:  http://www.realtor.org/RMODaily.nsf/pages/News2007111401?OpenDocument  I also know that many buyers are interested in foreclosures, which are becoming more prevalant.  I found it interesting that Las Vegas actually leads the nation in the most foreclosures.  There are also new programs to help those that use subprime lending and often times suffer with high interest rates!

I will never remember everything I learned, but if I can just remember a fraction of it then I will be better prepared to be even more professional in my service to others with their real estate needs!
